Thank you Toronto for making January 2, 2006 - Monday night's memorial and vigil come together.
Read about Jane Creba's 'makeshift memorial' on Yonge Street, click here.
This moment is for ALL the victims of 2005, and a reminder / reflection for the beginning of 2006. Vigil will take place along both the east and west sidewalks of Yonge Street north of Dundas between Elm and Gould streets. (map)
On Boxing Day 2005, at 5:19 pm,
Yonge Street in downtown Toronto between Elm and Gould streets
was taken away from us as a safe public space.
Gunfire, people were shot, a young girl died. Her name was Jane Creba. She was only 15.
This violence has gotta stop.
I am asking you, my fellow citizens of Toronto to come out on Monday January 2nd, 2006
for a candlelight vigil from 5 pm to 6 pm, with a moment of silence at exactly 5:19 pm.
5:19 pm will be exactly one week since the Yonge Street Boxing Day shootings.
